The r sound is as in English 'red' and not the tapped sound which in Bininj Gunwok is represented by 'rr'. Listen carefully to the audio.

The word duruk is common to all Bininj Gunwok dialects. Some southern dialects or south-western dialects (Mayali, Kundedjnjenghmi) have a synonym nagarndegen which is now rarely used. The word duruk can be singular or plural, shown by context, but for a marked plural form you can reduplicate the word like this:

duruhduruk 'many dogs'

Duruk na-bang. (all dialects)

Wardi yi-kayhmen duruk. (W) Wardi yi-kaihmen duruk. (Gdj)

Duruk bi-bayeng, ka-rradmok wanjh.
A dog bit her/him and he/she has a wound on the leg.

(kun-dad= leg; kun-mok= sore, wound; kun-dadmok 'leg wound', you can put a pronoun prefix ka- 'he/she non-past tense, on the noun to mean— 'he/she has a leg wound')
