English Translation
(Kun-balandaken)
skin name
Pronunciation
(Bale ka-yime karri-ngeybun?)

na gamaraŋ
note the r is an alveolar tap and is written rr in the orthography
The accompanying audio file gives the male skin name na-kamarrang. The female equivalent is ngal-kamarrang.

Morphology
(Karri-wokdjobdjobke)

na- or ngal- are the male and female noun class prefixes respectively and -kamarrang is the root.

Notes
(Njalenjale)

Note that this is a term used in the western system used in Kakadu National Park and Gunbalanya. At Maningrida and further to the east, the equivalent name for this subsection is Bangardi for the male and Bangardidjan for the female. Beware—na-kamarrang (west) is NOT the same subsection name as kamarrang (east).

In Gundjeihmi these names are spelt na-gamarrang (male) and al-gamarrang (female).

Usage
(Bale kabirri-yime?)

Use skin names to address and refer to people.

Na-kamarrang, ngudda ka-mak? (W)
Na-kamarrang, are you ok?

Aleng al-gamarrang, wanjh na-gamarrang bani-danginj. (Gdj)
