Notes (Njalenjale) |
If you are addressing your father you say 'ngabba' which drops off the final 'rd' sound "ngab-ba". You can also refer to one's father by use of a kinship verb -bornan 'to father someone' e.g. Ngan-bornan 'he is my father/she is my father's sister'. We will post about these kinship verbs another day. |
Usage (Bale kabirri-yime?) |
Bu ngal-kurrng ngun-marneyime 'nabbolo' ngun-rdebikan ngabbard ke. If your wife's mother refers to 'nabbolo' that means she is using triangular kinship terminology in reference to your father. Ngabbard ngaye ngan-marneyimeng marrek ngurri-yimonan korlonj wardi yi-rrowen.
